De Pauw replaces Caroline at RAM Racing

Ulysse de Pauw will race for RAM Racing this weekend at Donington Park after the team parted ways with Jamie Caroline in the #15 Mercedes.

The team released a statement on Twitter, “Caroline and RAM Racing have parted ways after a difference in opinion over how best to move forward with this year’s programme. The team would like to wish Caroline the best of luck with his future racing activities.”

While there will be disappointment that the team has to bring in a new driver mid-way through the season, de Pauw is a driver that many believe is a future star in the racing world and the British GT campaign will be alongside his already successful spell in GT World Challange Europe.

Speaking on the official British GT website, de Pauw said “I’m both really excited and really grateful to be joining RAM Racing for the next British GT round at Donington Park. I know British GT well from watching it during my two years in BRDC British F3. I know it’s a great and competitive championship and I’m really looking forward to being a part of it.

“I haven’t tested the Mercedes-AMG GT3 before, but I know it will be different to the Ferrari 488 I’m racing in Fanatec GT. Being front-engined the driving style will be different for the Mercedes-AMG, and I’m expecting it to have a lot of front-end grip, which should actually suit my natural driving style. I’m confident I can get up to speed with it quickly and RAM’s record with these cars speaks for itself.

“I’m looking forward to working with John because it will be my first experience of Pro-Am racing. It should be great racing alongside him, sharing coaching tips and advice, trying to help him improve his own driving while learning a lot of new things myself. Not only does it give me a lot more track time across this year, but it also allows me to experience a new style of racing, and I love a new challenge.”

de Pauw joins the series on the back of taking victory on British soil after his GT World Challange Europe Sprint Cup win at Brands Hatch. John Ferguson will drive alongside him this weekend in the #15 RAM Racing Mercedes.
