19 races down, 2 to go!

There are only two rounds left of the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship, which is crazy to think about with the season start feeling only a matter of months ago.

19 races have taken place in 2021 and Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were trading the Championship lead every few races.

This is the first time we are seeing a quality title fight since 2016, when Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg competed for the title, with the German driver coming out victorious.

We have also seen some surprise winners in 2021, with Daniel Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon joining Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez on the winners list this season.

The final two races of the season will also mark the end of the current technical regulation era, dominated by Mercedes. They have won every title since the era’s birth in 2014, with Lewis Hamilton claiming all but one of the team’s Driver’s Championships.

The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will be an interesting race as it is a brand new circuit and very fast. This in theory should favour Mercedes and especially Lewis Hamilton who is using his engine from Brazil. This engine saw him climb from P20 to P1 over the weekend and was not used in the last race to preserve its life. Max Verstappen can also be crowned Champion if Hamilton struggles and doesn’t finish inside the top five.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is set to be spectacular with the Championship most likely decided here. There hasn’t been a Championship decided on the final race since 2016, and with it being two separate teams involved, chaos is on the cards.

The final two races of the season will hopefully provide some late drama and end the current regulation era on a high. It is a testament to Mercedes that it has taken the entire lifespan of the regulations for Red Bull to get back to being a championship contending team.

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have really put on a show for the fans this season, and while there have been a few incidents, they both appreciate each other’s ability. Who will become Champion by the time the sun sets on the season, we will find out very soon!
