Álvaro Bautista’s winning streak in the World Superbikes Championship has continued after he claimed victory in the opening race of the weekend in Indonesia.
Toprak Razgatlıoğlu started the race from Pole Position, with Andrea Locatelli and Álvaro Bautista joining him on the front row after Superpole.
It was a disappointing race for Michael Ruben Rinaldi who crashed out of the race at turn one on the opening lap.
With fifteen laps to go, Razgatlıoğlu passed Axel Bassani to climb back up to second place, while closing in on Bautista ahead.
Kawasaki teammates Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes were battling for fifth place, with Lowes getting the better of the six-time World Champion and managed to pass him.
As Rea fell further down the leaderboard, he found himself in a scrap for seventh with Xavi Vierge, who managed to pass the Northern Irish rider.
But it was Álvaro Bautista who crossed the line first to make it win number four of the season as he aims to become a back-to-back World Champion.
He was joined on the podium by Toprak Razgatlıoğlu and Andrea Locatelli to give Yamaha a double podium, while Ducati celebrated having three riders in the top five.
Here is how the top ten finished up in the opening race of the weekend in Indonesia:
